Scope and Mission

World Journal of Development Economics (WJDE) is a peer‑reviewed, open‑access journal dedicated to advancing rigorous research and policy insights on economic development. We publish original articles that explore how economies grow, transform, and achieve inclusive, sustainable outcomes across diverse contexts—low-, middle-, and high-income countries.

Our mission is to bridge academic research and real‑world policy by featuring empirically grounded, theoretically informed, and methodologically innovative studies. We welcome interdisciplinary work that connects economics with fields such as political science, sociology, public health, environmental science, data science, and law.

Open Access and Licensing

All articles are free to read and download upon publication. By default, WJDE uses a permissive open‑access license that allows sharing and adaptation with proper attribution. Authors retain copyright.

Submission Guidelines

  • Manuscripts should be written in clear English and follow the journal formatting instructions.

  • Preferred file formats: .docx or LaTeX (with compiled PDF)

  • Include an abstract (150–250 words), 3–6 keywords, JEL codes, and a data/code availability statement

  • An information guide for the Journal of Economic Literature (JEL) is available at https://www.aeaweb.org/jel/guide/jel.php.
  • Follow ethical guidelines regarding human subjects, conflicts of interest, and funding acknowledgments

  • Reference style: author–year with a complete bibliography

  • journal published twice a year, in October-May (Oktober-May in the May edition and June-September in the September edition)

Peer Review Process

  1. Initial editorial screening for scope, originality, and quality

  2. Double‑blind external review by at least two experts

  3. Decision outcomes: reject, revise, or accept

  4. Revised manuscripts undergo further assessment; acceptance letters are issued upon final approval.

Average timelines are communicated transparently; we aim to provide constructive feedback and timely decisions.

Editorial Board

The Editorial Board comprises scholars and practitioners with expertise spanning development microeconomics, macroeconomics, political economy, econometrics, and sustainability. Guest editors may be invited to serve on special issues.

Special Issues and Collections

WJDE curates themed collections on frontier topics—such as digital public infrastructure, climate adaptation finance, or gender and growth—to accelerate knowledge diffusion and policy uptake.

Indexing and Archiving

The journal aims to be included in leading abstracting and indexing services. We support long‑term digital preservation through recognized archiving partners to ensure permanent access.

World Journal of Development Economics (WJDE) is a scholarly journal in economics covering short- and long-run growth dynamics; multidimensional poverty; inequality in income, wealth, and opportunity, etc. The journal is currently seeking accreditation from the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia. WJDE is also pursuing inclusion in indexing services such as EBSCO, EconLit (American Economic Association), ProQuest, Scopus, and others.

Publication Ethics

We follow COPE-aligned policies on authorship, originality, data integrity, competing interests, and post‑publication corrections or retractions. Suspected misconduct is handled confidentially and decisively.

Fees and Waivers

WJDE operates an Article Processing Charge (APC) model with a transparent waiver policy for authors with limited funding, particularly from low‑ and lower‑middle‑income countries. Fee information is updated on the journal website.

Accessibility and Inclusion

  • Encouragement of gender balance and geographic diversity among authors and reviewers

  • Language support for non‑native English authors during revisions

Data, Code, and Registered Reports
